What's it all about?

Urban Grown is a social enterprise (non-profit) run by the Port Kembla Community Project. It is focused on reducing youth unemployment in the Southern Illawarra region and plans to achieve this through training and employing local youth to set up and operate various community farm sites. Profits from the enterprise are fed back into the program to allow it to grow and enhance its effectiveness.

There are currently two community farm sites; the Warrawong High School site and the Harry Morton Park site (Port Kembla). The Warrawong High School site will produce organic fruit and vegetables, while the Harry Morton Park site will produce flowers. Both of these products will be sold to local businesses to produce a revenue stream for the social enterprise.

The community farms have been planned and are ready to implement. There are a number of ways you can get involved.
